Preferences
The preferences page enables you to change the way CES WEB works.
The preferences can be split into three groups:
The preferences that can be changed are :
Note: Preferences will not work if you have Cookies disabled.
Database Preferences
Database preferences enable you to change the database that the application works with.
Database
The active database that
CES WEB uses can be changed if more than one database
is available. To change the active database :
- Click 'preferences' on the toolbar.
- Select the desired database from the 'Database' drop down list.
- Click the 'Change Database' button.
- The browse view will now change to show the selected database.
The database preference will not be present if there is only one database available.
Application Preferences
Application preferences change the display settings for the application.
More than one application preference can be changed at a time. To do this, alter the preferences that you wish to
change and then click the 'Save Options' button. This will save all of the altered preferences at the same time.
Unit System
The unit system that CES WEB uses to display
property data in can be changed. Different unit
systems are available for different databases, but
only the unit systems available for the current active database will de displayed.
To change the unit system :
- Click 'preferences' on the toolbar.
- Select the desired unit system from the 'Unit System' drop down list.
- Click the 'Save Options' button.
- A message will appear confirming your settings have been saved.
- Until the preference is changed again, all property data values will be automatically converted to appear in the
unit system you have chosen.
The unit system preference will not be present if there is only one available unit system.
Currency
The currency that CES WEB uses to display
property data that represent prices can be changed.
To change the currency :
- Click 'preferences' on the toolbar.
- Select the desired currency from the 'Currency' drop down list. The currencies are listed alphabetically by name,
and also give the standard international three letter code.
- Click the 'Save Options' button.
- A message will appear confirming your settings have been saved.
- Until the preference is changed again, all prices will be automatically converted to appear in the currency
you have chosen.
The currency preference will not be present if there is only one available currency.
Display Notation
The display notation that CES WEB uses to display
property data can be changed.
This is split into two preferences : 'Significant Figures' and 'Numeric Display'.
To change the display notation :
- Click 'preferences' on the toolbar.
- To change the number of Significant Figures used, select the desired significant figures from the
'Significant Figures' drop down list.
- To change the Numeric Display notation, set the radio button for 'Scientific' or 'Engineering'.
- Click the 'Save Options' button.
- A message will appear confirming your settings have been saved.
- Until the preference is changed again, all property data values will be automatically shown in the selected format.
The display notation preferences ('Significant Figures' and 'Numeric Display') will not be present if there is only one
available display notation.
Results Per Page
The number of results per page that CES WEB uses to display
results lists (eg. search results, selection results) can be changed.
- Click 'preferences' on the toolbar.
- Select a number from the 'Results Per Page' drop down list.
- Click the 'Save Options' button.
- A message will appear confirming your settings have been saved.
- Until the preference is changed again, the number of results will apply for all results lists.
The results per page preference will not be present if there is only one preference available.
Use Absolute Temperatures
The format that CES WEB uses to display
temperatures can be changed. With 'Use Absolute Temperatures' set to true, the temperatures throughout the application
will display as absolute temperatures (eg. Kelvin instead of °C, °R instead of °F).
To change the temperature format :
- Click 'preferences' on the toolbar.
- Select a state from the 'Use Absolute Temperature' drop down list.
- Click the 'Save Options' button.
- A message will appear confirming your settings have been saved.
- Until the preference is changed again, the temperature format will apply for all temperatures.
Selection Preferences
Selection preferences change the behaviour of a selection.
